I use a Body Solid Leg Raise machine for leg raise exercises. This was a $250 machine, but you can get one of these machines (not quite as heavy-duty) for just over $100. I highly recommend this exercise for strengthening the muscles that support your lower back. In this video I show you how I use this machine as part of my routine for eliminating lower back pain. This routine has really worked for me. After 8 years of low back pain, and after trying different techniques, I developed this routine (demonstrated in this set of 10 videos). After 6 months my back pain was gone. My routine takes me about 1 hour each day. Is that a lot of time? After 8 years of severe back pain, I say an hour a day is a great investment in my health today, and in my future health. I’m 57, and I hope to live for many years in the future. I’m getting older, not younger. That means that my long-term commitment to this exercise program is essential to my future good health. So I’m committed.

KBS 2000 Klass Vaki Orthopaedic Body Support BACK PAIN: THE HIDDEN NIGHTMARE REVEALED A Lumber Body Support (KBS2000) alters lumbar muscle recruitment patterns in patients with acute-upon- chronic lower back pain KL Derman. EWDerman. TDNoakes Published SAMJJournal 1995 The back pain phenomena have been the subject of research study upon research study over decades without any marked success. In the meantime back pain has taken on epidemic dimensions on a global scale and the total associated cost soared over recent years. Revolutionary discovery: Now a South African woman, who is neither a doctor nor a scientist, has discovered that the experts have been looking in the wrong places. Since the appearance of A First In The World invention KBS2000 Klass Vaki, back pain should no longer be a complex problem. Over-stretched back muscle: Back pain is mostly caused by an over-stretched back muscle as well as back muscles going in a state of spasm and this causes the spinal column to be pulled out of alignment. Sciatica pain radiating down the leg, prolapsed discs and many other problems develop in this manner. Research showed astonishing results: A simple every day task such as working in your garden or stretching out for an object can trigger this event. You might even think you have a broken back. The astonishing results conducted by scientist on behalf of the inventor prove that the problem is as simple as the FLAT surface on which we are spending one third of our lives …

I had minimally invasive lumbar fusion L5-S1 surgery on 5/17/2011. Some highlights are included here to help others in gaining some familiarization with the procedure and the post-op recovery. Email any questions I’ll be happy to share any experience I’ve had. While I say that this would be one video in part one, I learned later that it’s best to upload numerous separate segments, so if you would like to see my whole story goto my “channel” and you’ll see all of the segments that I’ve recorded. In this 4 part video, Sarah Key, pre-eminent popular author of books about spinal problems and treater of low back pain, explains how troubles begin with sustained loading of the lumbar segments. The uninterrupted compression forces fluid from the discs and reduces their metabolic rate, which leads to breakdown. In the second half, Sarah takes you through the Pressure Change Therapy routine, using a BackBlock. In addition to the spinal decompression, Sarah shows you — in real time — the other two exercises which are vital for ongoing spinal health.

I love this machine! In refining my streching & exercise program, I bought a few pieces of equipment, although this one cost me $400, it was the most expensive one I bought. It’s not about how much you spend, it’s about how much you use it, and whether it does what it’s supposed to do. This one is a winner. In this video I demonstrate how I use the Ab Coaster. Of all the abdominal exercises I do, this one is the most effective. The most important thing you have to do in eliminating low back pain is to strengthen your abdominal muscles. Your lower back needs their support. If you’re overweight, get rid of those extra pounds – they are killing your back! After 8 years of intense low back pain, I had to do something, and this exercise & stretching program did it in 6 months. Now all I have to do is maintain it for the rest of my life. I have no doubt that I will continue to sustain this program. I guess I needed 8 years of lower back pain as my wake-up call. But I’m awake now, and I realize that I caused I caused the problem by ignoring my body’s need for strong back support muscles. I needed this program at age 45, but I didn’t get it going until age 56. If I needed it at age 45, how much more will I need it at age 65, or age 75? The best time to start anything is now. Actually you can only start or do anything NOW. You can say you’ll do it in the future, but if you ever do it, when you do it – it will be NOW. Some people continually put important things off until some …

When I began adding back and abdominal muscle-building exercises to my stretching routine, I started with basic crunches. I don’t like to do these crunches, but I knew I needed to strengthen my abs. After a month or so, I started using a bench for crunches, and it really makes a difference. In case you don’t want to use a bench, I include this short video with basic ab crunches on the floor. In Part 5 of this series, I demonstrate crunches on a bench. These lower back & abdominal stretches and exercises have saved me. I’m 57 years old, and for 8 years I suffered intense lower back pain, and my back would go out every 3-4 months. I felt like a time bomb – I never knew when it would happen, but when it did, I was nearly incapacitated for 3-4 weeks. I had to work – that wasn’t an option. But trying to straighen up was intense pain, and I would generally hobble around bent over until it would subside after a couple of weeks. I tried many things, but it was this exercise program that did it. And it only took 6 months to end my back pain. Now I’m in maintenance mode, using the same exercise routine that cured me as my maintenance program.

Floor stretches that have really helped me. I started doing these simple stretches 2 years ago, and they have really helped. Somehow I thought the stretching alone would eliminate my back pain. No way. I needed to build muscles to support my back. But the stretching is very important. I now do many of these stretches using a Pilates Reformer (see part 3 of this series). But you don’t need a Pilates machine to do back stretches. I have other stretches I do, but this video covers the ones I consider to be most important, and that helped me the most in eliminating my low back pain. After 8 years of agonizing back pain, I knew I had to do something, and I wasn’t going to take the surgery or painkiller route. Each of the videos in this series will give another piece of the puzzle. After I added the exercises you’ll see in the other videos to the stretches in this video, it only took me 6 months to eliminate my back pain.
