I want to lose my belly fat! How to lose belly fat for men is a question that men have begged an answer for years. Thankfully, there are things that can be done to trim the fat around your biggest problem area. There are exercises that men can do to help with fat loss around the belly and chest, the two biggest problem spots on men. Some say, when asked how to lose belly fat for men, that running is the fastest way to melt the fat, but most men who have belly fat have other issues related to weight as well, and running might not be the best answer. By all means though, if you enjoy running, then run! Other great cardiovascular exercises are walking at a brisk pace, biking, swimming, and even aerobics. There are many exercise videos available on the market that are geared specifically toward men and are actually fun to do. Doing at least 30 minutes of cardio exercise three to five times a week is enough to see results. Of course, if you want to know how to lose belly fat for men, you will need to understand that cardio is not enough. You will need to add muscle building exercises to your work out routine as well. While your main focus will be your abs and chest muscles, working all of the muscles in your body will help to increase the muscle mass in your body. Increasing muscle mass will allow your body to burn more calories each day, therefore making it easier to lose the extra pounds. Some great examples of muscle building exercises to help build stomach and chest exercises are push ups, leg raises, and lower body crunches. Obviously there are many more exercises that target those areas, but these are simple enough for most men to do and have been proven to give results. If you are having problems getting rid of your belly fat, know that it can be done. With a little effort and diligence, you can take control of your body.

How Often Can You Do “core Training” Part 1

The buzz about working “core” muscles seems like it will never go away. First of all, most people don’t even know what the word “core” means. As a matter of fact neither do I! The word ‘core’ does not come from any scientific anatomy text I have ever read. As far as I can tell it is a term created by the fitness industry to promote all kinds of ab training products.

I’m assuming core training is supposed to give you a hard flat stomach or possibly even a 6 pack. I think this myth about core training is also how much of the new athletic style workouts are becoming popular as may exercises athletes do seem to appeal to the people who think they are doing a core exercise. So what is your core anyway?

As far as I can tell, people think their core is their abs, the oblique muscles (the muscle that are on either side of your middle set of abs) and your lower back muscles. This collection of muscles makes up the mythical “core”. Now, if anyone besides a graduate trained biomechanist tells you they know exactly how these muscles work, they are lying, and probably haven’t done enough research to know that they are lying (so technically its not really their fault for misleading you). The muscles of the core are very complex and the truth is that scientists still aren’t sure exactly how they all work together. So now that we can see we don’t really know how all the core muscles work together, how can you possibly think you are training them in any intelligent way!

The truth so far is that any exercise works your core muscles to some degree or another. As soon as you stand up and get out of bed in the morning your core muscles have to be activated to prevent you from just flopping over at the waist. All forms of rigorous physical activity will work your core muscles. For example, one of the toughest core workouts you can do is a series of short all out sprints. Don’t believe me? Give this sprint interval routine a try and see how sore your ‘core’ and ‘abs’ are the next day.

20 yard sprints x 4

40 yard sprints x 4

60 yard sprints x 4

80 yard sprints x 4

100 yard sprints x 4

After each sprint walk back to the start and repeat until you have completed 4 sprints at that distance, then take 90-120 second rest and start the next distance. If you push these hard, your whole body should be sore the next day including of those ‘core’ muscles. I’ll bet this is not the image you had in your head of a ‘core’ workout.

You can train ‘core’ muscles every day if you want, which isn’t saying much because they are working all the time anyway. With that said there are core exercises that are better than others, and the exercises people typically think of for core should not be performed every day, and some of them like crunches should never be done at all. In the second part of this article I will discuss the right and wrong way to train this part of your body.

The term “arthritis” refers generally to an inflammation of the joints and is typically associated with stiffness and joint pain. The different forms of arthritis vary in terms of cause, severity and potential pain relief treatments.

Management of arthritis pain depends not only upon the specific condition, but also upon your age, lifestyle, and unique response to different treatment methods.

Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

The two most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Together these conditions affect approximately 40 million people in the United States alone.

* Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition involving deterioration of the cartilage in the joints, resulting in joint pain or stiffness.

* Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory disease affecting the lining of the joints. While osteoarthritis is far more common, rheumatoid arthritis is often a much more severe form of the disease.

Before assessing your arthritis pain relief options, it is important to consult with a physician to determine whether you have arthritis, and if so, which type since treatment options differ.

Common Causes of Arthritis Pain

The joint pain associated with arthritis may be caused by a variety of factors. Most commonly, arthritis pain originates from:

* Inflammation of the tendons, ligaments or lining of the joints. This inflammation may be accompanied by swelling or redness, which results in joint pain.

* Joint tissue damage, which may be related to an injury or excess pressure on the joints.

* Fatigue, which is sometimes a result of arthritis and can make the joint pain seem more intense and the condition more difficult to cope with.

Arthritis Pain Treatment Options

There are a variety of ways to treat arthritis pain and other joint pain. It’s essential to be aware that people respond differently to different treatments. An individual’s response to pain and pain relief treatments is affected by the particular disease or condition he/she suffers from, the severity of the pain, and a range of psychological and emotional factors.

Short Term Pain Relief

One of the most important considerations when evaluating arthritis pain relief treatment options is to be clear about whether you are focusing on short or long term pain relief.

For short term relief from arthritis pain, many people use hot or cold therapy, depending on the type of pain and the specific condition. Cold therapy in the form of an ice pack can sometimes provide pain relief by reducing swelling, but may not be a good option for patients with poor circulation. Heat therapy, either moist or dry, acts as a muscle relaxant, and can also provide short term pain relief.

Certain drugs can also give quick, short term relief from the joint pain associated with arthritis. Depending on the amount of inflammation, doctors will often recommend a pain relief medication such as acetaminophen or a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) like aspirin or ibuprofen.

Another non-drug alternative that provides some patients with short term relief from arthritis pain is TENS, or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. A TENS unit delivers electrical pulses to nerves in the affected area. The pulses block pain messages that the nerves would normally deliver to the brain, thereby bringing pain relief to the patient.

TENS therapy may also raise the level of endorphins produced by the brain. Endorphins are substances that are produced naturally in the body and contribute to feelings of well-being and pain relief.

Long Term Pain Relief

Because both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis are chronic conditions, sufferers often need to look for long term options to deal with their joint pain.

Drugs such as NSAIDs provide some level of pain relief. In the case of rheumatoid arthritis, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) target the immune system and are helpful for some patients. Corticosteroids are hormones that are sometimes prescribed for treatment of the joint pain and inflammation that typically accompany arthritis.

For many people with arthritis pain, exercise and physical therapy can help reduce stiffness and joint pain. Depending on the severity of the condition, walking, swimming, and a variety of strengthening and/or aerobic activities may be helpful, not only in pain relief but also from the standpoint of improving patients’ self-confidence and psychological and emotional well-being.

Overweight people suffering from arthritis pain are frequently advised to lose weight, since additional weight places an added burden on the joints.

In a small minority of cases, medication and lifestyle changes do not provide the desired pain relief and doctors may recommend surgery. Surgical procedures can remove tissue within the joint, or else realign or replace the joint.

In every magazine that I look through, I see women who look very lean and don’t have any fat.  I use to believe that this was a natural thing, until I realised that most women have to work hard at getting their ‘perfect shape’.  They are very particular about their diet and they exercise very hard.  I used to carry quite a bit of excess weight, but that was until I decided that I wanted to change the way I looked and felt about myself. That’s when I looked into the different types of workouts and exercise routines.  I eventually decided on a routine that actually worked well for me – the ab workout for women.  By working both my upper and lower abs, I have actually developed my abdominals and I now have a flat stomach, something that I used to dream about.  Most importantly though, I started not only looking good but feeling great about myself as well. Since I’ve been working out, I don’t suffer from any back pains and my posture has definitely improved.  Initially, I was strict with my diet but not any more.  I am careful about what I eat but because I do my abs exercises everyday, this helps me and I have not regained the weight I have lost.
